Positive Affirmations for Happiness

I create tools and courses to help people feel and share more kindness & happiness so we can help build better lives and a healthier world together. Here's a slideshow I created with affirmations I wrote after a long period of deep meditation.

Keep it on in the background while you work or play. Let it help you counter the thousands of daily negative anxiety filled thoughts each of us have going on in our subconscious mind so you can feel better and live better!

*** Please help me share this positive helpful tool for happiness and like the video & subscribe to my new channel. Thank you!

HEALING STARTS AT HOME

This may be controversial. I think the focus shouldn't be on the type of guns or gun control. Though I don't think we need civilians having assault style weapons.

Two thirds of all gun deaths in our country are suicides, over 20,000 a year of them take place by gun. I believe our new level of whats clearly "income apartheid" that robs us of our basic humanity, of our human rights to have our basic survival needs met, of our ability to have time to find personal meaning and purpose in life beyond paying down our crushing personal debt. This unequal, stagnant wages, live and let die economy tells us that our happiness will come some day from more hard work and buying more things, while we know happiness comes from most everything except for what we earn and what we buy and this type of living creates a deep seated unhappiness in people.

We are overall, a mentally ill society because we have been sold into a false idolatry of celebrity, and wealth, at the same time the economy is rigged to hold down wages and extract maximum debt interest payments from us all. Most of us will not become rich or famous. In fact more than half of us live at or over the official poverty line.

We know that healthy people are parts of healthy communities, and are connected to others in groups with shared interests, groups that work on things bigger than themselves, are connected to something more important than money and individual accomplishments. But more and more in our communities people are isolated not part of any group that meets in person.

If we want to reduce violence including suicides, perhaps we should help members of our communities have healthy lives where they can learn about themselves, and truly honestly love themselves for who they are because if we want "Love thy neighbor as thyself" to have a chance, we must learn to be loving at home first.

For more on the importance of having a purpose in life please read this book Mans Search for Meaning by Victor Frankel, a Holocaust survivor. I read it in school many years ago and it's always stuck with me.

We need to build a healthy and resilient society if we want to reduce all kinds of violence including mass shootings and suicides.

This great author describes this far better than I have.

These solutions may help:

  1. Provide government grants to every city to build and or expand their existing community centers where people can come together to learn healthy living and life coping skills, to teach what they know to others, to share and study the arts, gardening, meditation, Tai Chi, healthy cooking among other things that are known to help people become healthier.  People with positive connections to groups of others are happier and much less likely to harm others.
  2. Appropriate money for and legislate a free nation wide mental health care program offering counseling, including therapy, suicide and trauma prevention.
  3. Stop the violence of poverty and the "rat race" of working just to pay down personal debt. Pass a "Basic Income" (Negative Income Tax) providing a $1500 a month base stipend to every person in America so every person can have a chance to afford the basic needs to have human dignity including, food to eat, and safe decent housing.
  4. Raise the Federal Minimum Wage to $15 an hour now (not in six years!) and have it indexed to the cost of living index in each state.
  5. Make public colleges tuition and debt free so people can experience learning and being with people of different ages, nationalities, sexual preferences and backgrounds while learning more about themselves and the world.
  6. Set the tone from the top by creating a Cabinet level position in the executive branch for a Department Of Peace responsible for teaching non violent conflict resolution at home and around the world..
  7. Create a National "Rebuild America" work creation project to build a National Green Energy Grid connecting all 50 states and employing millions of Americans in living wage jobs that cannot be offshored to other countries.

A plan for fair economic growth and prosperity.

HERE IS WHAT I WANT FOR US: I want fairness and wide based growing prosperity to be made in the U.S.A. again! We can be a nation that produces wide based economic growth, better health outcomes, and happier safe children.

  • Single Payer Healthcare or add a "public option" of Medicare For All.
  • Set our highest national priority and goal to end poverty, hunger & homelessness in America by 2040 with state by state goals, milestones and incentives.
  • Tax all political TV advertising at 100% with all funds going to fund publicly funded candidates who forego PAC money and adhere to spending caps
  • Open presidential debates to the top 5 candidates in national polls.
  • Raise the cap on Social Security contributions to 250k a year.
  • Sell treasury bonds to build more schools, hire more well paid teachers in every state hiring local workers to build them and work in them so we can lower class sizes and improve the educational experience of our children.
  • Tax industrial automation equipment manufacturers funds going to fund a national guaranteed work program.
  • Make public colleges tuition/debt free.
  • House the homeless providing them with social workers and free mental health care services.
  • Any arms or goods sold to the federal government while U.S. troops are in armed combat must be at 5% over cost at prevailing industry rates. No profiteering on the blood of our young soldiers!
  • If a U.S. company closes operations to move abroad for cheaper labor or tax shelters, their facility and equipment will be offered to the employees they are firing with a low or zero interest loan backed by the Federal government so they can take the company over as a worker-owned and operated company thereby preserving U.S. jobs and our local economies.
  • Tax Capital Gains over 100k a year the same as labor income.
  • No deductions on CEO pay for salaries OR stock options over $1 Million.
  • Raise the Federal minimum wage to $15 pegged to inflation or the Market Index.
  • Promote fair humane immigration and immigrant employment laws.
  • Promote worker & environmental focused Fair Trade NOT Free Trade! Protect the environment & workers!
  • Every new corporation must be a B "Benefit Corporation" that puts the well being of workers, customers, community and planet on par with profits rather than putting profits first.
  • Stop all Oil subsidies Now! Make a significant investment in green energy using the money no longer used to subsidize the oil and gas industries.
  • Tax carbon at the point of extraction returning 100% of revenues directly to the people of that city and state to use to offset the so-called externalities of the fossil fuel industry like higher healthcare costs due to more asthma and other climate related costs.
  • If you make over 1 million dollars a year you get no government subsidies, none.
  • Congress meetings with lobbyists must be televised on CSPAN.
  • Any year unemployment does not fall below 6% (All jobs must be Living Wage jobs) Congressional pay sets to minimum wage for the following year.
  • Enact public financing of all elections.
  • Provide equal free time on public airwaves to minimally qualifying candidates or revoke public broadcast licenses.
  • Make K-12 classes on government and voting a condition for federal aid to states.
  • Make federal elections a 3 day official national holiday.
  • Make voter registration automatic at age 18 and opt out rather than opt in.
  • Cap credit card interest rates at 15% above that it's usury (loansharking).
  • Pay women equal pay for the same jobs men do by law.
  • Increase WIC payments until there are no hungry children!
  • Outlaw private prisons. (More classmates-less inmates!)
  • Pay for and expand public education to include preschool.
  • Inventory the resources of the public schools in the richest neighborhoods and duplicate those resources in every public school in their district so all children have the same resources.
  • Tax all gun manufactures to pay the public back for the public health costs their product creates.
  • Twenty Five percent of the Department Of Homeland Security budget must go to the NIH to fight cancer, Alzheimer, Diabetes and Heart Disease so we can have a truly secure homeland.
  • Cap the home interest tax deduction at $1 million dollars use the remaining deduction expenditure to fund low cost public housing & education.
  • Restore Glass Steagall to break up Too Big To Fail Banks!
  • A constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United ruling.
  • Any Bank Owned housing on the books for in excess of 3 years will be claimed by their cities by eminent domain and sold back to the public at prevailing housing rates so they can be rebuilt by unemployed construction and other workers and rented or sold as affordable housing units to lower the prevailing cost of housing. Affordable housing is a human right and speculative banks should not be able to use monopoly powers to hoard resources and drive up housing costs to the people.
  • A moratorium on the death penalty until all DNA is tested.
  • A national workers freedom corp where any citizen can get a job at the new living wage to rebuild our streets, schools, levees, public transportation, parks and libraries paid for by selling government treasury "Freedom Bonds", thereby redefining "right to work".
  • A 25% tax on any currency moved outside of the country over ten million dollars.
  • A ban on all food with GMO's until their health effects can be independently reviewed and studied.
  • A new cabinet level position for a "Peace & Prosperity Department" that teaches the best diplomacy, non violent conflict resolution, and ethical business practices.
  • Spend 1 Trillion dollars on a national work program to build a "Green Grid" of renewable power from coast to coast including electric recharging stations, solar & wind farms, geothermal and other renewable energy generation plants to provide a green energy option to any U.S. citizen to choose from thereby creating competition with the for profit fossil fuel industry.
  • All foreign aid must go towards public education, improving healthcare, promoting fair trade business practices, and environmental technology & conservation.
Now I know this is my list and it may not be your list or all of it. You may have more ideas or dislike some or all of mine. The main thing is we need to look to the future and invest in what will reduce the most unnecessary suffering of our citizens and produce a fair level playing ground for opportunities to pursue happiness and live healthy purpose filled lives.

We can do better than we are doing now and we must do better. Too many people are suffering in poverty, hunger and sickness in the richest land in the world! That is immoral.

Government is not the solution to every problem but we can solve great problems by working together to improve and direct our government! We must not allow it to be dismantled and destroyed by those who see some invisible hand of the free market as a moral guide to a free society because it has proven to be the exact opposite!

I want a country where every person can go to work and build a better life for themselves and their families with rising wages that fairly compensate them for the investment of their limited healthy working years and a reliable retirement for the years thereafter.

I want a country where we use our government and community based nonprofit organizations to protect us from shady business predators or corrupt officials who lie, steal, and cheat because they are so big and powerful they think they can get away with it.

I want a country where our children, our privacy and right to assemble to organize in business or show dissent of our government, is all protected more than the special interests of the rich and powerful are.

I want to live in a country where the free press is free of corporate or government influence, tells the people what those in power don't want us to know because it may embarrass them or cost them money, and asks people in power important questions without letting them evade giving answers.

I invite you to write your own list of what you want to see for the future of our country and share it with your friends and maybe a Mayor or Congress member or two! If you are a Republican voter you may not like all of my list or view of the role of government. That's fine. But if you have an idea of how to create wide spread economic growth, reduce poverty and create fair access to opportunity and affordable health care please suggest it show examples of where these ideas are creating good results.

Optimally we should seek to create solutions that are based on evidence of what is or has worked to produce the best results for the most people and our planet.

If we only or even mostly focus on what we dislike and do not want we will not get the work done to create something better.
